Officials from the Galmudug State Office of the Auditor General joined counterparts from South West, Jubbaland and Hirshabelle in a seven-day Federal Member State workshop focused on modern public-sector audit capacity.
The programme covered IT audit concepts and controls, assessment of system-generated evidence and data reliability, identification of technology and fraud risks, forensic audit techniques, professional writing, media engagement and institutional communication.
These competencies are increasingly important as public financial records, transactions and audit evidence depend on digital systems. Stronger IT and forensic audit capability enables audit teams to assess system controls, interrogate electronic evidence and respond more effectively to complex risk.
The workshop was supported by the European Union through the Technical Assistance for Advancing Financial Accountability in Somalia programme. Participation strengthens specialist audit capability and professional exchange among the participating state audit institutions.
